My Story
Our story is important, here is a bit more of mine...
Prior to setting up Fortitude therapy I was part of the NHS Perinatal Mental Health Team in Cardiff. Here I provided therapy for pregnant women and those with babies under one year old. I also ran an innovative group for mothers and newborn babies enabling them to use play and mindfulness techniques to strengthen their bond and increase wellbeing.
Prior to this role I provided psychological workshops and service development for a chronic back pain programme, as part of NHS provision in the University Hospital of Wales. The focus of my role was in running groups teaching therapeutic approaches regarding how to live a rich and meaningful life despite chronic pain.
I also have experience as the primary psychologist in a community mental health team which involved providing one to one and group therapy for people with a range of debilitating mental health difficulties.
I have also provided psychological services in preschool nurseries, care homes and a medium secure unit.
Alongside my clinical work I have held research positions in Cardiff University and University College of London and have pubished research in scientific journals.
My future hopes are to use Fortitude Therapy to enable people from any background to be able to access psychological tools and techniques to enhance their lives.
